OK- so it snowed. A new record was set and it took us a week to get to the tower to ring. The Carillion was mostly swept clean by the wind, with some noticeable ice flows on the floor. The ringing chamber had some small drifts where the holes in the windows allowed some snow to enter. The bell chamber, with only two louvered, screened, sides mostly closed, still managed to get snow and keep it. The ice bonded to the bells, the snow bonded to the ice, and the whiteout remained even when we rang. It was so dangerous we decided NOT to climb on the frame with the bells up to remove the silencers.
Oh yes, the grotesques were wind swept clean so there was no really neat images to record.
Bummer.
