What is the cancellation policy?
For parties of 10 or less: Reservations are only refundable up to 7 days before the scheduled Tour and Tea.
For groups of 11 or more: A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to hold the reservation. The balance is due two weeks before the tour date.
In the event that Washington National Cathedral must cancel Tour & Tea, you will receive first priority rescheduling. Alternately, you may request a full refund.
What is served at tea?
Sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, sweets, and hot tea. The menu varies throughout the year. Please note that tea is not a full meal; we advise guests to eat lunch before arriving for the tour.
How long does the program last?
Plan to spend 2 to 3 hours at the Cathedral. The tour begins at 1:30 PM followed by the tea at 2:45 PM. Be sure to allow time for shopping in our gift shops.
Where can I park?
I can only attend Tour & Tea on a date when a specialty tour is offered. Will I miss seeing the Cathedral?
You won’t miss seeing the Cathedral. In fact, you’ll get more information than the average visitor! With the exception of Garden Tours and Woods Walks, all specialty tours begin with a general overview of the Cathedral’s history and architecture.
Is the tour wheelchair-accessible?
Most portions of the tour are wheelchair-accessible, and a small elevator is available to take guests to the crypt (lower) level. Tea is served in the Pilgrim Observation Gallery, which is accessible by elevator. Guests who have difficulty walking or standing for more than an hour may wish to borrow a wheelchair for use during the tour. Inside the Cathedral, some wheelchairs are available for visitor use. Unfortunately, the Bishop’s Garden is not wheelchair-accessible. Please see our Accessibility page for more information.
Can I bring my group to Tour & Tea?
Certainly! Groups of 11 or more may hold their reservation with a $150 non-refundable deposit; balance due two weeks before the event. We can accommodate groups as large as 45, depending upon availability. Please call (202) 537-5581 or write to firstname.lastname@example.org to book your group.
May I bring my camera?
Yes. Photography is permitted in the Cathedral as long as a service is not in progress.
What should I wear?
We recommend “Smart Casual” dress for our guests as well as comfortable walking shoes. We do not offer a coat check.
Is Tour & Tea appropriate for children?
Tour & Tea is geared toward adults, though school-aged children are welcome. The tour lasts approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, and tea service includes hot tea.
