March on Washington for Gun Control

Event image

Join with Dean Gary Hall and other concerned people in a March on Washington for Gun Control. The march is to support these legislative changes:

  • Reinstate the assault weapons ban
  • Ban high-capacity ammunition magazines
  • Enforce a 28-day waiting period and required background checks
  • Require gun-safety training
  • Outlaw bullets that shatter in the body

Starting Point

Beginning at the Capitol Reflecting Pool on 3rd St., NW (across from the Museum of the American Indian), the March will progress down Constitution Ave., and end in a rally with speeches and music at the Washington Monument NE quadrant.

Local and national leaders including Dean Hall, Mayor Vincent Gray, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, as well as representatives of the arts including actress Kathleen Turner, and emcee Sam Waterston.

The march has been organized by an informal group of several dozen DC-area citizen activists, led by Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith. It is co-sponsored by One Million Moms for Gun Control.
