ANZAC Service

Event image

The annual ANZAC service remembers and honors those who perished in the Dardanelles campaign that was fought between the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) and the Turkish military. The toll was horrific for both sides, and the losses at Gallipoli played an enormous role in the developing sense of nationhood in both Australia and New Zealand. Anzac Day is observed each year near April 25 in commemoration of those who made the supreme sacrifice both in the Dardanelles campaign and in subsequent conflicts.

This year, 2014, marks the 99th anniversary.
