The Altar Guild / Flower Guild

Since 1900, the Altar Guild / Flower Guild of Washington National Cathedral has provided support for the preparation of 1,500 regularly scheduled worship services each year. More than one hundred volunteers offer their time and skill for weekly services, special festivals, and for other important events held throughout the year.

In 2005, the Guild, under the leadership of Linda Roeckelein, created a Cathedral exhibit for the prestigious, by-invitation-only, Philadelphia Flower Show.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild / Flower Guild is responsible for overseeing the altar and overall Cathedral flower arrangements, the upkeep of vestments for clergy, vergers and choir, as well the care of the altar linens. With its profusion of hand-stitched needlework pieces the Cathedral has a volunteer Needlepoint Committee which is under the care and guidance of the Guild.
