Welcome to the 26th Annual National Acolyte Festival, which will be held at the Washington National Cathedral on Saturday, October 8, 2005. The Festival Service of The Holy Eucharist with Rededication of Acolytes will occur at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch and a variety of workshops and tours. On behalf of the Bishop of Washington and as the Dean of Washington National Cathedral, we welcome you to register for this years festival, which offers special guest workshop leaders and new workshops. The registration form is available for download from this website, and should you need further information than available here, we will be happy to respond to e-mail messages sent to acolytefestival@cathedral. org. The Cathedral has begun a major construction project to expand its parking facilities. However because of construction there is no longer any access to North Road and parking has become more of a challenge. We encourage all who are attending to take advantage of public transportation, car pools and buses for travel. Gather your acolytes, vergers or adult sponsors, clergy and friends and join us Columbus Day weekend for another great Acolyte Festival. Bring processional crosses, banners, torches, thuribles, flags and other liturgical items for the festive procession of acolytes. (Remember to label your torch and banner and cross stands so you will take yours back to your parish.) Acolyte Festival commemorative items will be available in the Cathedral Museum Store and we have exciting workshops for all acolytes. We look forward to welcoming your parish and diocese, your acolytes and leaders for this exciting day at our great Cathedral in the Nations Capital. Faithfully yours,
The Very Reverend Samuel T. Lloyd III |
