Self-Guided Tours


  • The Cathedral is sustained solely by visitor contributions, Museum Shop sales and generous donations.
    The requested contribution to visit the Cathedral:
    $5 adults
    $3 senior citizens/students/military
    $15 families
    Regular guided tours for individuals and families are complimentary.

  • Eight Great Gargoyles
    The easiest gargoyles for you to see are on the north side of the building (as you face the front of the Cathedral, the side to the left), above the lowest stained glass windows.
  • Wacky Western Gargoyles
    Gargoyles, on the west façade (main entrance) of the Cathedral—this is the end with the two towers.
  • Silly South Gargoyles
    The most difficult gargoyles for you to see are on the south side of the building (as you face the front of the Cathedral, the side to the right) above the lowest two levels of stained glass windows.
  • West Front
    The west façade, sometimes called the front, consists of two towers, a gallery halfway down, a rose window, and three huge portals or doorways with a large tympanum carved above each.
  • Darth Vader
    Darth Vader is one of the numerous carved grotesques on the Cathedral.
