Cathedral Scholars Program: Home

Cathedral Scholars

As part of Washington National Cathedral’s mission to the District of Columbia and to the nation as a whole, the Cathedral Scholars Program provides opportunities for D.C. public high school students to fully realize their academic and leadership potentials. The program calls on the unique, rich, and varied resources of the entire Cathedral community, especially those of National Cathedral School, St. Albans School and Beauvoir School to provide a supportive environment for the students.

Each year, fifteen rising tenth graders from D.C. public schools are invited to participate in the program. Each Scholar spends three summers of study on the close (during the regular school year, the Scholars attend their home schools). The program’s goals are to better prepare the students for post-secondary education, provide a supportive learning community, and develop skills so that the students become leaders in their schools and communities.

Over the past ten years, approximately 150 students have taken full advantage of the opportunities offered by CSP. Ninety-eight percent of the program graduates have gone onto higher education and many have gone to attend and graduate from many top universities.
