We are weavers. When our voices join with those of a
thousand other women and echo throughout the Cathedrals soaring spaces,
our hearts begin to beat as one. We become enfolded in a community that
inspires us to extend our warm bond to others
We are also woven. Women artists and teachers will
guide us in a communal practice of song and silence, movement and
stillness. They will offer us creative ways to express the insights
gained in workshops and other parts of the conference during an expanded
final community session together Saturday afternoon.
- MICHELE GEORGE is an actor, singer, director and therapeutic voice
specialist. Together with yoga instructor and dancer NEVA INGALLS, she
will playfully invite our voices to fully inhabit our bodies. If you
can let your voice drop down into your belly, and get that part of your
body literally in movement, you awaken parts of yourself that are
longing to come to life: laughter, tears, sensuality, memories, songs
and stories, she says.
- Internationally recognized Buddhist teacher SHARON SALZBERG is
co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society and the Barre Center for
Buddhist Studies. Meditation teaches us how to trust and nurture our
potential with compassion toward ourselves and others, she says.
Sharon will lead us in guided meditation that reinforces a forgiving
posture toward even the most difficult people in our lives.
- SHEFA GOLD is a rabbi in the Jewish Renewal Movement, a leader in
ALEPH: the Alliance for Jewish Renewal and director of C-DEEP, the
Center for Devotional, Energy and Ecstatic Practice. On Friday evening,
Shefa will draw us into a community celebration of the Sabbath wide
enough for all to participate. On Saturday, Shefa will guide us in
exercises to translate conference experiences into next steps.
- Celtic and Benedictine spirituality scholar and wise elder ESTHER DE WAAL will offer blessings of courage and peace from these historic
Christian traditions
