The Potent Spiral of Body-Soul Wisdom
Though hers is not a household name, Marion Woodman has for the past 25 years been one of the leaders of personal transformation work uniting psyche and spirit. A Jungian analyst and author also known for her public speaking, Woodman draws inspiration from powerful images that come in dreams, from the body, from poetry and art. Despite the fact that she taught English literature for 24 years before becoming an analyst, many people who read her bookson such topics as feminine and masculine archetypes, psychological growth, the earth and the addiction to perfectionhave told her they dont understand them at all. But their stomach is going round and their hearts beating fast and they cant understand why, she says. Its because the unconscious is ringing in symbolic language at the body level. Come hear this wise guide talk about how to handle the divine energies within usenergies with the positive power to heal us from illness, inspire art and draw couples together, and the negative power to drive us to addiction, perfection and overextending ourselves. Our goal is growing into these energies without destroying ourselves, Woodman says. Her latest book, Bone, is a series of journal entries that chronicle her successful effort to fight off an aggressive cancer her doctors said would kill her, by practicing what she preaches. Come learn how Woodman drew wisdom from her dreams and her body in the course of actions she took. As Jesus prayed in the garden in Gethsemane that the cup would pass from him, and then finally prayed thy will be done, thats the move we have to make, she advises from her own experience. God is on our side in the crisis were in personally and planet-wise.
Marion Woodman is a Jungian analyst, internationally acclaimed author and evocative and playful workshop leader. Her books include Addiction to Perfection and Coming Home to Myself: Reflections for Nurturing a Womans Body and Soul.
