3-day residential retreat: Friday, February 1, 4:30 pm through Sunday, February 3 lunch

The baptismal covenant is gradually returning to the center of the Church’s life, but the deeper work of restoring baptismal spirituality has only just begun. In this retreat we trace paths of l imagination, poetry, prayer, and theology to renew our own experience of the Holy Spirit so we can play our role in deepening the sacramental life and prayer of our churches. Fee includes room, board, and tuition.

Esther de Waal is an Anglican scholar of the Cistercian, Benedictine, and Celtic traditions of Christian spirituality. Her published works include The Way of Simplicity: The Cistercian Tradition and A Seven Day Journey with Thomas Merton.

The Rev. Martin Smith is the senior associate rector at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Washington and well known as an explorer of Christian spirituality through his books, columns, retreats, and lectures. Trained as a theologian at Oxford and ordained in England, he has spent three decades traveling widely throughout North America in his ministry to a broad spectrum of churches and groups.
