Dostoevsky famously proclaimed that “beauty shall save the world.” Esther de Waal, Cathedral College Senior Fellow agrees. Join her as she illustrates the power beauty has to transform the material world into divine expression throughout history, from the Celtic Lindisfarne Gospels to the contemporary monastic architecture of Marcel Breuer’s St. Johns Abbey, Minnesota. Sessions will include illuminating images and invite participants into discussion, discovery and revelation. Course fee is $65 regular, $45 seniors, students and limited income.


Esther de Waal is an Anglican scholar of the Cistercian, Benedictine, and Celtic traditions of Christian spirituality. Her published works include The Way of Simplicity: The Cistercian Tradition and A Seven Day Journey with Thomas Merton.
