of motivation and celebration for the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.

The event will include a discussion on rebuilding the lives of youth at
risk by George Starke, former Washington Redskin and founder of the
Excel Institute; a talk by Stewart Burns, former editor of the Martin
Luther King Jr. Papers; and performances by the Duke Ellington School of
the Arts Dance Ensemble and the Children's Choir of the Episcopal
Diocese of Washington. Free and open to the public. For information call

Background
The Defeating Youth Violence program was established in 1999 from a
charitable gift by a donor committed to helping curb violence among
youths in Washington DC. It is held in January to celebrate the
birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
