Christiana Olsen The Rev. Canon Christiana Olsen
Canon for Community Life

The Rev. Canon Christiana Olsen joined the Cathedral staff as Canon for Community Life in February 2007. Her position is a new one, reflecting the desire of Dean Sam Lloyd to build and nurture an ongoing worshiping congregation at the heart of the Cathedral’s life. She is charged with developing an intentional programmatic and pastoral life for the Cathedral Congregation and, along with the other clergy and staff, will carry out the daily liturgical, pastoral and practical responsibilities of life on the Cathedral Close.

Canon Olsen came to the Cathedral after serving four and a half years as associate rector for pastoral care at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas, where she directed all pastoral care and related programmatic life for a parish of 7,000 communicants. She has also served in multiple capacities at Trinity Church on Copley Square in Boston, Massachusetts, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in New Haven, Connecticut, and on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in Mission, South Dakota. Currently, Canon Olsen is serving on the board of directors of the Amistad Mission, an international non-profit agency that serves the physical and spiritual needs of the indigenous population of Bolivia, particularly orphaned and abandoned children in Cochabamba.

A graduate of Sweet Briar College in Virginia, Canon Olsen received her Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School and her Diploma of Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.
