In May 2006 the Cathedrals dean, the Very Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, appointed the Rev. Stephen Huber the Cathedrals vicar. The vicar is the executive officer of the Cathedral, acts on the deans behalf when he is away, and is responsible for the implementation of Cathedral programs and ministries as well as for the integration of the many facets of the Cathedral staffs work. He is also responsible, with the rest of the Cathedrals pastoral staff, for the development of the new Cathedral congregation. Canon Huber came to the Cathedral following five and a half years at St. Columbas Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. He served first as Senior Associate Rector and then for his last two years as Priest-in-Charge. He directed the worship and liturgical life of the parish; taught courses in Bible, liturgy, mission, and sacramental preparation; and oversaw a staff of six clergy and twenty-one lay professionals. Prior to coming to St. Columbas, Canon Huber was the Development and Communications Director at Yale Universitys Berkeley Divinity School and Interim Priest-in-Charge at St. Georges Episcopal Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is a graduate of Duns Scotus College in Southfield, Michigan and pursued graduate studies at Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University in 1998. |
