EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR
TO HOST INTERFAITH AWARD

WASHINGTON, DC – Egyptian ambassador H.E. Nabil Fahmy and the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington are hosting a reception to present the IFC’s first annual InterFaith Bridge Builder’s Award to Akbar Ahmed, the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University, the Right Rev. John Bryson Chane and Rabbi Bruce Lustig, senior rabbi of the Washington Hebrew Congregation.

The award will honor the three men’s engagement in interfaith dialogue and action for peace as leaders from the three Abrahamic faiths.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 14 at The Embassy of Egypt (3521 International Court, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008). Tickets cost $50 each ($25 tax deductible). Persons contributing $250 each ($200 tax deductible) will be able to take part in a private tour of the first and second floors of the Embassy, including the special collection of photographs Fahmy has assembled of the meetings of Egyptian and U.S. Presidents.

The tax-deductible portion of tickets and any other gifts in honor of the awardees will help raise the $20,000 needed to match a $10,000 challenge grant to support the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington’s projects and programs.

Media should contact Jim Naughton, director of communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, with any questions, (202) 537-7162.
