CATHEDRAL COLLEGE APPOINTS DIRECTOR FOR THE NEW Wayne Whitson Floyd, Ph.D. has joined the staff of the Cathedral College of Washington National Cathedral as the first director of its Center for Christian Formation. Dr. Floyd also works with the Christian Formation Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and serves as liaison between the Cathedral College and the diocesan Commission on Ministry. His special interests include the vocational diaconate, baptismal ministries of the laity, and supporting religious educators in their roles in the church. Most recently Dr. Floyd served as Canon Theologian for the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, and as Director of its Anglican Center for Theology and Spirituality. Prior to his work in southern Virginia, he spent ten years as a lay theologian in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania. Dr. Floyd holds a M.Div. and Ph.D. in systematic theology from Emory University. He has taught at the Episcopal seminary in Sewanee, Tennessee, the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, and Dickinson College. An editor and published author, Dr. Floyd is a well-known scholar of the theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He is married to the Rev. Dr. Nancy Lee Jose, rector of St. Thomas Parish in Washington, D.C. Under Dr. Floyds leadership, the newly established Center will be grounded in three key activities.
