A Statement of Condolence from Washington National Cathedral
offered to the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of London,
and other church leaders in Great Britain

We were all stunned and shocked this morning when we awakened to learn of the terrorist activity that hit your Underground and bus system during your morning rush hour.

The Dean, Provost and the community of the Washington National Cathedral join in extending their condolences and prayers to you, the people of London, and all your citizens, who are suffering because of this tragedy today – a day when there was so much hope that we would join together to eradicate poverty and that environmental concerns would be addressed by the nations of the world.

The Cathedral has been in touch with the British Embassy and offered its services as the Ambassador and his staff deem appropriate. In all our services today through Sunday, we are praying for all the victims as well as the perpetrators of this heinous act.
