What We Do
The Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation (CGJR), one of
the five centers of the Cathedral College, is the
Cathedrals platform for international affairs. Founded
in 2005, the Center focuses its efforts on poverty, social
justice, and peacemaking initiatives around the globe. The
Center forges effective partnerships between Christian
denominations, interfaith partners, governments, multilateral
institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and
the private sector to address the root causes of human
suffering.
CGJR amplifies the voice of the Cathedral on global
justice and reconciliation in domestic and international arenas. It
deploys the convening power of the Cathedral as a place of
reconciliation and interfaith collaboration. It works to address the
needs of people who are poor and oppressed.
How We Achieve Our Objectives
The Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation at
Washington National Cathedral is in a unique position to effect
change in the global community. CGJR leverages the prominence and
convening power of the Cathedral to gather leaders from religious
and secular institutions to help them achieve their goals and to
advance human rights initiatives around the world. In addition, our
location in the nations capital allows for a mutual exchange
of ideas and information with our nations lawmakers as well
as leaders in NGOs and the international
community.
