As part of the celebration
of the Cathedrals Centennial, we will
present many of the worlds finest organists
in a special Centennial Organ Recital Series. This
series will also celebrate the Great Organ in
anticipation of the upcoming Organ Project which
will see two new instruments installed in the
Cathedral. This series will take the place of the
regular weekly organ recitals for the
20072008 season. Recitals take place Sundays at 5 pm, and are free
and open to the public. No reservations are
required, with the exception of groups.

Mendelssohns oratorio tells the intensely dramatic
story of the Old Testament prophet Elijah through scenes
from his life. The music builds in part on the work of
Mendelssohns baroque predecessors, Bach and Handel,
but the style also marks Mendelssohns own emergence
as an early romantic composer. Nmon Ford, Elijah; Kelley
Nassief, soprano; Jennifer Hines, mezzo soprano; Benjamin
Butterfield, tenor, Nicholas Bairatchnyi, treble.
